The owners and workers went on an indefinite transport strike across the country from Friday morning in protest against fuel price hike.

Earlier on Thursday, the leaders of different organizations of transport sector held meeting following the government raised the prices of diesel and kerosene by Tk 15 per litre.

In the meeting, they decided to keep transport services closed until the government reverses the decision to increase fuel prices or hike bus fare.

Four leaders of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association confirmed the matter to Jago News yesterday.

Asked about this, BRTOA Secretary General Khandaker Enayet Ullah yesterday told Jago News that the owners said they won't operate vehicles in protest against fuel price hike but did not make formal announcement of strike.
