Youths jailed for 17 yrs in arms case

A court in Khulna on Sunday jailed a young man for 17 years in an arms case.

Jailed Nil Ratan Halder, 38, is a resident of Kholsekhali area in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district.

Khulna Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge SM Ashiqur Rahman handed down the verdict. 

The judge also fined the convicted youth Tk 50,000, in default, he will have to serve another year in jail.

Assistant public prosecutor Kazi Sabbir Ahmed said police arrested Nil Ratan alongwith a gun and four rounds of bullet from Rupsa Bridge area on December 27, 2011. 

Later, an arms case was lodged against him with Sadar Police Station.
