Chattogram Medical College closed indefinitely

Chattogram Medical College, Chattogram was closed on Saturday for an indefinite period following the clashes between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League on the campus.

The residential students were asked to vacate the dormatories by 5 pm today, CMC Principal Professor Dr Shahena Akter confirmed to Jago News.

The authorities sat in an emergency meeting after the clashes, and announced closure of the campus until further notice, she said.

The principal also said a five-member committee was formed to investigate the incident.

Earlier, two factional groups of BCL clashed in phases on Friday night and Saturday morning over establishing supremacy on the campus, leaving several injured.

However, out of the groups, one is known as followers of former Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and another of Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel.
