Iqbal put on fresh 5-day remand
A court in Cumilla on Friday put Iqbal Hossain, who placed the Holy Quran at Nanua Dighir Par puja mandap in the district town, and three others on a fresh five-day remand.
The rest three accused are Rezaul Islam Iqram, Faisal, and Humayun Kabir Sanaullah.
The district Senior Judicial Magistrate Farhana Sultana passed the order after police had produced them before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.
Earlier on October 23, the district Senior Judicial Magistrate Mithila Zahan Nipa granted police seven days to interrogate them.
Earlier , Kotwali Police Station sub-inspector Harun-Or-Rashid lodged a case over the attacks and vandalisms on temples following the reported desecration of the Holy Quran.
Apart from this, 11 cases have, so far, been filed with different police stations in Cumilla over the attacks and vandalisms.
The law enforcers arrested a total of 89 people in the lawsuits to date.
