BGB member commits suicide

A member of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) has committed suicide after shooting himself using a pistol in Mymensingh.

The deceased is Sohrab Hossain Chowdhury, 23, son of Anwar Hossen Chowdhury of Bashpadua village in Porshuram upazila in Feni.  

The incident took place at 39 BGB Battalion Camp at Khagdahar area of the district on Friday night. 

Younus Ali, Assistant Director of the camp, confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

He said, a BGB member named Sohrab committed suicide after posting a status on his Facebook account around 9pm. Further details regarding him will be disclosed later. 

In this connection, Faruk Hossen, Officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station, said after being informed, the body was recovered and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. 

It is suspected that, he died after shooting himself using a pistol,” the OC added.
