RMCH counts five more deaths in Covid-19 unit
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) registered five more fatalities in its Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till 6am today, taking the death toll to 68, so far, this month.
However, the previous day's fatality figure was three, while on October 3, the death toll was just one, the lowest-ever in the hospital since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around six months back, reports BSS.
Earlier, the number of casualties was 167 in September, 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.
RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdany told journalists that three of the deceased were the residents of Chapainawabganj, while one each from Rajshahi and Natore districts.
Among the new fatalities, one was suffering from post-Covid-19 complexities, while four others were suffering from its symptoms. Of the five deaths, three were male and two female.
Seven more patients were admitted to the designated Covid-19 wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of admitted patients to 73.
Thirteen other patients returned home from the RMCH Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.
Meanwhile, seven more people were diagnosed with Covid-19 after testing 191 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Sunday, showing a 3.66 percent positivity rate against 2.25 percent on Saturday.
