DGHS ex-DG Azad gets bail

A court has granted bail to the former Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Abul Kalam Azad in a case filed over irregularities in the Coronavirus test and treatment. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge K M Imrul Kayesh passed the order on Thursday.  

Earlier on Tuesday, Abul Kalam filed the bail plea after surrendering before the same court.

On September 30, Farid Ahmed Patwary, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Investigation Officer of the case, filed a charge sheet against six people including Abul Kalam to the court. 

The other accused are Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Sahed alias Sahed Karim, former Director of DGHS Aminul Islam, Deputy Director (Hospital-1) Dr Md Younus Ali, Assistant Director (Hospital-1) Dr Md Shafiur Rahman and Research Officer Dr Md Didarul Islam.
