Couple, daughter die from electrocution

A man, his wife, and their daughter died from electrocution in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were Aibul Mia, 48, a resident of Latifpur area under Gazipur union in the upazila, his wife Abeda Akter, 40, and their daughter Pinky Akter, 22.

Local representative and police said Aibul came in contact with a live wire around 1:45pm when he was giving water on the wall of his under-construction building with a pipe through an electric motor. 

His wife Abeda, and daughter Pinky also came in contact with the wire when they touched him to save him.

The locals rushed the trio to Khaliajuri Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Doctor Prasenjit Das said the couple and their daughter died before they had been brought to the hospital.

However, a one-and-a-half-year-old child named Tasia Akter also received serious injuries, and it was sent to Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital for better treatment. 

Khaliajuri Police Station officer in-charge Md Mojibur Rahman said police have been sent to the spot.
