2 killed as covered van hits auto-rickshaw

Two people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Suagazi Bhatpara area in Sadar Dakshin Upazila of Cumilla early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jamil, 32 of Bishnupur and Mozammel, 33, of Batpara village of the upazila.
In this connection, Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Moinamoti Highway Police Station, said a Dhaka-bound covered van hit a standing auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving two people dead.
On information, bodies of the deceased were recovered from the spot and the covered van was seized. The driver and helper of the van managed to flee away, the OC said.
