Amjad Khan Chy’s first anniversary of death today

July 8, 2016 marks the first death anniversary of Major General (Retd) Amjad Khan Chowdhury who passed away on July 8, 2015 in the USA. He was 76.

On this occasion, a doa mahfil will be held at its head office and factories to commemorate Amjad Khan, a visionary entrepreneur and industrialist.

Born in an aristocratic Muslim family in Natore district in 1939, Mr Chowdhury started his education at Dhaka’s Nabakumar Institute and graduated from Australian Staff College.

He joined Army in 1956. He retired from Bangladesh Army in 1981.

The soldier-turned-businessman Amjad Khan Chowdhury started his business career in 1981.

He founded Rangpur Foundry Ltd (RFL), now a leading plastic goods maker in Bangladesh. Now PRAN-RFL Group is the leading agro processed foods, plastic household company in the country.

The mission of the conglomerate is ‘poverty and hunger are curses, our aim to generate employment and earn dignity and self respect for our compatriots through profitable enterprises’.

Amjad Khan Chowdhury was the visionary founder & chief executive officer (CEO) of the most diversified group of companies in Bangladesh.

He was the founder-president of Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), Bangladesh Agro-Processors’ Association (BAPA) and Underprivileged Children’s Education Programme (UCEP).

He was an active member of premier trade bodies. He was the president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (MCCI).

He had keen interest in agriculture, rural development and economics.

DHL-The Daily Star honored Amjad Khan Chowdhury as the Business Person of the Year in 2010.

He performed an important role in the country’s private sector through creating jobs especially for the marginalized people.

Amjad Khan Chowdhury is an enlightened person in our society. He is broadly known as the pioneer of Agriculture & Agricultural products.

Amjad Khan Chowdhury, the first person in the country, who showed how we can use agricultural crops multiply.

He turned the sector into industry.Bangladesh gained economic prosperity through this industry.

His contribution towards social & economic development is exemplary.Moreover, his attempt for country’s economic development has brought ample prosperity and elegant splendor in the business sector.

Around 80 thousand people are working directly at the group. PRAN-RFL Group is now exporting its products to 130 countries around the globe.

PRAN won the most prestigious export trophy award for the last ten years. PRAN Group also awarded the HSBC export excellence awards in 2011.
