Rape case filed against cop in Thakurgaon

A case has been filed against a police member in Thakurgaon for allegedly raping a teenage girl.

Accused Jewel Rana, 24, is working as a constable at Muktagacha Police Station, Mymensingh.

The victim's father lodged the case against the policeman and two others in Thakurgaon Judge Court on September 22.

The case statement said constable Rana would often tease the victim. He would also give her love, and indecent proposals.

Being refused, he abducted her and violated, the statement read. 

After the incident came to light, Rana's father agreed to make him marry the victim and demanded dowry but the victim's family refused which resulted in the marriage being stopped. 

However, the accused could not be reached for comment.

Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Tanvirul Islam said they are looking into the matter and will take action against the accused soon.
