A court in Dhaka on Sunday framed charges against former State Minister for Housing and Public Workers Abdul Mannan and his wife Hasina Sultana in cases filed for allegedly amassing wealth illegally.

Judge Ali Hossain of the Special Judge's Court-3 of Dhaka indicted them and fixed October 18 to begin formal trial with the deposition of witnesses.

When the judge read out the charges to the couple, they pleaded not guilty.

On August 21, 2014, the Anti-Corruption Commission lodged a case against Mannan accusing him of amassing illegal wealth worth around Tk 75 lakh.

On October 21 of the same year, the anti-graft body also sued his wife Sultana for allegedly concealing information of around Tk 1.86 crore wealth and accumulating about 3.45 crore illegal wealth.

The ACC pressed a charge-sheet against them before court on August 11, 2015.
