Police recovered the body of a female UP member from a paddy field in Dhunat upazila of Bogura on Wednesday afternoon, five days after she had gone missing.

Deceased Reshma Khatun, 38, was a reserved female member of Wards no. 7, 8, and 9 under Mathurapur Union Parishad in the upazila, and wife of Faridul Islam, a resident of Gobindapur village.

Mathurapur UP chairman Harun Or Rashid Selim said local people spotted a body in a paddy field in Kurigrai area and informed the police.

Later, police recovered the body and took it to police station, he said.

The woman's husband Faridul said his wife went out of home on Saturday saying that she will go to Sherpur but did not return.

Dhunat Police Station officer in-charge Kripa Sindhu Balal said the body would be sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
