Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow as the moon for Shawal month was not sighted anywhere in Bangladesh, the National Moon Sighting Committee said.

The committee decision followed evaluation of data and reports from all the district administrations, offices of Islamic Foundation, Bangladesh Meteorological Department and Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation, an Islamic Foundation press release said on yesterday.

Since there was no report on the sighting of Shawal moon on Tuesday, the 30th day of Ramadan, 1437 Hijri will be completed on Wednesday. The counting of Shawal will begin tomorrow.

The moon sighting committee meeting was held at the Islamic Foundation with Religious Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Committee Principal Matiur Rahman in the chair.

Meanwhile, all preparations for holding the Eid congregations have already been completed across the country.

Though the three-day public holiday began on Tuesday on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the government service-holders are enjoying an extended nine-day holiday as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared July 4 as holiday by an executive order.

The government has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr with due respect and religious fervour.

The national flag will be hoisted at government, autonomous and non-government offices and other important establishments.

Important traffic islands and light posts in Dhaka city will be decorated with miniature national flags and flags inscribed with ‘Eid Mubarak’, reports BSS.

Besides, designated government offices and other establishments would be illuminated on the night following the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private television channels will air special programmes and newspapers will publish supplements on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Improved diets will be served in hospitals, jails and orphanages.

City corporations will keep open the children parks, allowing free entry of all visitors on occasion of Eid.

The day will be observed in Bangladesh missions abroad too in a befitting manner.

The main Eid congregation in the capital will be held at the National Eidgah on the premises of the Supreme Court at 8:30am.

Five Eid congregations will be held at the Baitul Muqarram National Mosque at 7 am, 8 am, 9 am, 10 am and 10:45 am.

Law enforcement agencies, including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police, will ensure security in and around the main Eid congregation.

The biggest Eid congregation of the country will be held on Sholakia Eidgah Maidan in Kishorganj. All preparations have been completed for Eid congregations.

Bangladesh Railway will operate Solakia special trains on Bhoirab-Kishoreganj-Bhoirab and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh routes on the day for carrying the passengers to and from the Sholakia Eidgah Maidan.

Divisional, district and upazila administrations and local government bodies have taken preparations in their respective areas to observe the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Around 250 Eid congregations are scheduled to be held this year at the traditional and temporary venues in the city under the supervision of Chittagong Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

Law enforcers have taken tight security measures across the country for the Eid festival.
