Journalist Probir Sikder has been acquitted in an ICT case filed for allegedly defaming former LGRD Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain on Thursday cleared the journalist of the charges after he was found not guilty.

The case statement said Faridpur District Puja Celebration Committee advisor Swapan Pal lodged a case against journalist Probir Sikder under the ICT act on August 16, 2015, accusing him of defaming then LGRD Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain in a Facebook post on August 10 of the same year.

On the day of case filing, he was arrested and subsequently remanded. On August 19 of the year, he was released on bail.

The anti-liberation forces brutally killed Probir Sikder's father and 13 other members of their family during the Liberation War of 1971.

While working as Faridpur Correspondent of Dainik Pratidin, he lost one of his legs in a terror attack for making reports against the collaborators of the Pakistani Army during the Liberation War.

Now, he is working as the editor of Dainik Bangla 71, online portal Uttaradhikar 71 News and quarterly newspaper Uttaradhikar.
