Suspected thief lynched in Cumilla

An angry mob beat a suspected thief to death in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla district early Monday.

The identity of the deceased could not be known yet.

Quoting locals, Nangalkot Police Station officer in-charge ASM Abdun Nur told Jago News that the family members of Saudi expatriate Abdus Satter, a resident of Noapara village in the upazila, sensed a thief in their house on Sunday night and he was fleeing with valuable things.

Hearing shouting, the locals managed to catch the man and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.

The body was sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
