Mymensingh road crash kills 5

At least five people were killed and 16 others injured critically as a pick-up van fell in a roadside ditch by losing control over steering on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Beltoli area of Sadar upazila in Mymensingh early Tuesday.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Mymensingh Kotwali police station officer-in-charge Kamrul Islam said a Mymensingh-bound  Pick-up van loaded with passengers fell into a roadside ditch while it reached Beltali area at around 6:00am leaving three spot dead and 16 others injured.

Locals, police and members of fire service and civil defence immediately rushed the spot, rescued the alive passengers and took them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared two more people dead, he said.
