Woman gets death for killing stepchild

A court in Sirajganj on Tuesday sentenced a woman to death and fined her Tk 20,000 for killing her stepchild in 2018.

Condemned convict Kulsum Khatun Ratna is the wife of Chan Mia, a resident of Dhukuria village under Shialkol Union in Sadar upazila of the district.

The district and session judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir handed down the verdict.

The court public prosecutor advocate Abdur Rahman said Ratna strangulated her stepchild to death on June 17, 2018.

Later, her husband Chan Mia lodged a murder case with Sirajganj Model Police Station in this connection.
