Biman pilot Nawshad no more
Biman pilot Captain Nawshad Ataul Quaiyum, who suffered a heart attack mid-air on Friday while commanding a Muscat-Dhaka flight, has passed away.
He breathed his last on Monday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Kingsway Hospital in Nagpur in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.
Captain Mahbubur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Pilot Association, confirmed the death to Jago News.
Carrying 124 passengers on board, the Dhaka-bound Biman flight BG 022 from Muscat made an emergency landing at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagar on Friday morning after Nawshad suffered a heart attack.
Later he was admitted to the hospital and was life support there.
He joined Biman in 2002. He started as first officer of A310 and Boeing 777. Later, he became pilot of Boeing 737.
