Naogaon college student goes missing in river

A college student went missing in the River River in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district on Saturday afternoon.

Missing Abu Shahadat Shahi, 18, is a student of Class XI at Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College in the capital of Dhaka, and son of Ekramul Haque (Babul) Sarder, a resident of Sarderpara area in Naogaon's Badalgachhi upazila.

Locals said Shahi sank in the river in Natunhat area around 1:30 pm when he along with friend Maruf went to the water to swim.

Being informed, a team of the divers from Patnitala upazila rushed to the spot and started rescue operation around 3 pm.

Badalgachhi Police Station officer in-charge Atiqul Islam said the operation continued to rescue the missing teenager. 

Besides, Rajshahi diver team has also been informed about this, he added.
