Two minors drown in pond

Two minor girls drowned in a pond in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh district on Saturday morning.

The deceased were Taiyeba, 5, daughter of Md Uzzal Mia, a resident of Olhori village, and Rimi Akter, 6, daughter of Rakibul Islam, of Bogar Bazar area in the upazila. The minors were maternal cousins. 

Quoting relatives, Trishal Police Station officer in-charge Md Main Uddin said the two children fell into the water of a pond beside their home in Olhori village around 11 am.

Later, they were rescued and rushed to Trishal Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, the OC added.
