B’baria trawler capsize: Case filed, 5 detained
A case has been filed against seven people mentioning their names and some unnamed persons over the trawler capsize that claimed 22 lives in Brahmanbaria.
Selim Miah, son of late Abdul Hasim, of Champaknagar area in Brahmanbaria sadar upazila, filed the case with Bijoynagar Police Station on Saturday noon. Selim lost four members of his family in the incident.
Police detained five people in this connection.
They are Jamir Miah, 33, son of Ali Afjal of Sarail upazila, Md Rasel, 22, son of Abdul Karim, Khokon Miah, 22, son of Kashem Miah, Md Solaiman, 64, son of late Ashraf Ali and Mistu Miah, 67. All of them were the inhabitants of different upazilas in the district.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Mirza Mohammad Hasan, officer-in-charge of Bijoynagar Police Station, said all the detainees will be shown arrested as their names are mentioned in the case.
To be noted, twenty-two people died after a trawler collided with another trawler in Loichka Beel in Brahmanbaria aroun 5:45pm on Friday.
