Arrest warrant against Khandaker Mushtaq's son
An arrest warrant has been issued against Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed Babu, the son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's killer Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed, in Cumilla in a case filed over forgery.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Golam Mahbub Khan of Cumilla 3rd Cognizance Court issued the warrant and asked Daudkandi Police Station to arrest him.
Plaintiff's lawyer advocate Iftekhar Ahmed confirmed the matter to Jago News.
BSS adds: Khandaker Mushtaq’s relative Khandaker Jabir Ahammed Sarwar filed the case Ishtiaq, who is living in Canada, his son Iftekhar Ahmed Shad and caretaker Nizamuddin, last year.
According to the case documents, Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed Babu kept all the properties left by his late grandfather Khandaker Kabir Uddin under his control by force, denying all the other heirs of the family. He has a gang of local goons, which is controlled by his caretaker Nizamuddin. Babu allegedly sold many family lands by making forged documents.
“He is depriving us of our rights in the family property. Babu is leading this gang in the Doshpara area sitting in Canada. Nizamuddin is executing all his orders here,” plaintiff Khandaker Jabir Ahammed Sarwar told BSS.
Another heir of the family, Qazi Reha Kabir said Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed Babu is enjoying all the family properties, even the ones given under a trust formed in the name of his grandfather Khandaker Kabir Uddin. Babu doesn’t allow anyone of the family to visit the mausoleum of Khandaker Kabir Uddin, she alleged.
Officer in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station Nazrul Islam said the main accused Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed Babu is abroad and they (police) would take necessary legal steps once the copy of the warrant is received.
