College student held for threatening PM

Police arrested a college student on charge of making defaming comments about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and threatening an Awamil League leader on the social networking site facebook on Monday from Mahiganj area in Sadar upazila of Rangpur district.

The arrestee was identified as Arif Faisal Jonayed Chowdhury, 19, a college student of Mahiganj College and son of Akram Hossain Chowdhury in the area.

Officer-in charge of Rangpur Sadar Police Station ABM Zahidul Islam confirmed the incident by saying that Arif Faisal threatened Prime Minister on his facebook status.

Later, Mostafizur Rahman, a local Awami Leader filed a case with Sadar Police Station in this connection.

After filing the case police arrested Arif Faisal from his home on Monday morning, added the OC.
