Now cases filed against UNO, OC in Barishal

Two separate cases have been filed against Barishal Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Munibur Rahman and Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Nurul Islam over the attacks on the UNO's official residence and police.

The district Awami League general secretary and advocate Talukder Md Yunus confirmed the matter on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier around 11 am, Barishal City Corporation panel mayor and the district lawyers association general secretary Rafiqul Islam Khokan and the city corporation revenue officer Md Babul Hawlader filed two separate complaint applications against UNO Munibur, Ansar members, OC Nurul, and unidentified more than 100 people in the court of the additional chief metropolitan magistrate.

The case was lodged days after the upazila administration, and police filed two separate cases over the incident.

Earlier on Wednesday, attacks were carried out in several phases on the official residence of UNO Munibur Rahman over removing banner-festoon pasted at the upazila premises.

Later, Awami League, Juba League, and Chhatra League leaders and activists clashed with police when the law enforcers tried to prevent them.

Barishal City Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, and more than 100 leaders and activists of different levels of Awami League, Juba League, and Chhatra League were named in the lawsuits.
