Hasan Azizul Haque shifted to BSMMU from NICVD

Noted short story writer Hasan Azizul Haque was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases on Saturday night for better treatment.

He was shifted to BSMMU in line with the direction of the medical board formed for his treatment, and the higher authorities of the government, NICVD Director Professor Dr Meer Jamal Uddin told Jago News around 7:45pm.

Earlier today, the writer was admitted to NICVD after he had been airlifted to Dhaka from Rajshahi.

Dr Jamal told Jago News around 3pm that Hasan Azizul Haque, 83, has suffered cardiac arrest. Apart from this, he has been suffering from various old age complications, including diabetes and respiratory problem. 

On August 16, the writer's son and Rajshahi University's Biochemistry & Molecular Biology department associate professor Imtiaz Hasan revealed his father's sickness in a Facebook post.

Hasan Azizul Haque was born at Jabgraam in Burdwan district of West Bengal, India on February 2, 1939.

He started his teaching profession at Philosophy department of RU in 1973 and retired from the dept in 2004.
