Special security for Eid public gathering places
Securities in city’s Zoo, Children Park, National Museum and private amusement centers will be beefed up following the deadly attack at Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery on Friday night where gunman killed 20 people including 17 foreigners.
Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and detectives will be deployed at the areas such as Zoo, Children Park, National Museum and private amusement centers where pubic will gather during Eid holidays, said law enforcers officials.
In the previous year RAB, police had taken securities steps for these places as huge amount of people from all walk of life gathered here to spend time with joy. But the scenario of this year is totally different after the bloody Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery standoff.
SM Nazrul Islam, Curator of Dhaka Zoo, where nearly 10, 0000 people gathered per day during Eid holidays, said all kinds of securities measures have been taken for the people during Eid holidays.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director of Rab’s media wing said Jagonews24.com additional Rab members will be deployed at the public gathering areas to ensure the securities during the Eid holidays following the Gulshan attcak.
Earlier, gunmen seized Holey Artisan cafe at 8.45pm, killing 20 hostages and two officers in a siege that ended Saturday morning.
All the hostages killed were foreigners and six gunmen were killed while one was held alive the military said. Troops rescued 14 hostages, according to Brig. Gen. Mujibur Rahman of the Bangladesh army.
The country’s worst hostage crisis ended on Saturday morning when heavily-armed commandos stormed the popular Dhaka eatery in the diplomatic enclave and killed militants who had been holding many people, including foreigners, captive for over 12 hours.
