Body exhumed after 18 days of burial

The body of a trawler driver was exhumed in Bhedarganj upazila of Shariatpur district on Friday morning, 18 days after he had been buried.

In presence of the deputy commissioner office's executive magistrate Basit Satter and others, the body was exhumed from Charfilij Hawlader Kandi village and sent it to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Earlier, Shariatpur Senior Judicial Magistrate sub-ordinate court ordered to exhume the body within August 20 after a petition case was filed with the court on August 11 in this connection.

Gosairhat Police Station officer in-charge Molla Soyeb Ali said a murder case was lodged with the police station following an order of the court.

The case statement and local sources said a groom party men who were going to Gosairhat upazila on the trawler of Noor Mohammad Khalashi, 30, locked into an altercation with him on August 2 after he had asked them to get down from the vehicle as it caught in river char.  

Later, Walid Matbar, 35, Shahidullah Molla, 40, Shukur Ali Malat, 48, and several others of the groom party and residents of Charfilij allegedly beat him to death.

Then, he was burried hurriedly saying that he died of cardiac arrest.

Khorsheda Begum, wife of the deceased, alleged that her husband was beaten to death by Walid Matbar, Shahidullah Molla, Shukur Ali Malat and others but they said his death was of cardiac arrest.
