Parents of one Gulshan attacker detained

Police on Sunday evening detained parents of Khairul who took part along with five terrorists in the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery of Gulshan-2 in Dhaka on July 1.

The detainees are Khairul’s father Abu Hosen and his mother Peyara Begum of Chopnigor union of the Shahjanpur upazila in Bogra.

Locals said, Khairul was the student of Bri-Kushtia Darul Hadith Qawmi Madrasa. Later he passed Dhakil from Bihigram DU Central Fajil Madrasa.

During her detention, Khairul’s mother said that her boy had been missing for one year.

Officer-in-charge of Bogra Detective Police Amirul Islam confirmed the matter.

It is mentionable that, twenty hostages, mostly foreign nationals, were killed when some youths stormed in with guns and swords in the Gulshan’s Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1.

After a nearly 12-hour long siege, the hostage crisis ended with a death toll of 28. Apart from the casualties of two police officers, law enforcers said six militants were killed.
