AL leader gunned down at Teknaf

A local leader of ruling Awami League was gunned down by miscreants at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar early Monday.

The victim Sirajul Islam was the president of Sadar Union Awami League at Teknaf union in the upazila. He was also a former union parishad member.

Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model police station Abdul Majid confirmed the matter.

He said a group of masked miscreants stormed the house of Siraj and shot him to death around 3:30am on Monday. At this time, his wife Yasmin Aktar was also shot.

On information, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Later, Siraj was taken to Teknaf hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Yasmin was given primary treatment and sent to her home.
