Covered van-auto rickshaw collision kills 6 in Habiganj

Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a covered van and CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Habiganj on Monday morning. 

The incident took place on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Nachratpur gate area in Shaistaganj upazila of the district around 7:45am. 

The deceased were identified as Md Ahad Miah, 30, son of Md Abul Miah, his wife Shahena Akter, 25, Raju Miah, 22, son of Safar Ali, Rahela Akter, 23, wife of Akbar Ali, Sohag Miah, 20, son of Abdullah Miah, Alauddin, 27, son of Anfar Ullah. All of them were the inhabitants of different upazilas in the district. 

Md Mainul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Shaistaganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident to Jago News. 

According to police, the incident took place when the auto-rickshaw collided head-on with the covered van in the area. Six passengers of the auto-rickshaw and its driver were killed on the spot. Of the deceased, two were women and four were men.  

On information, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and sent those to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital.
