HC wants to know initiatives to give vaccines to expecting mothers

The High Court (HC) today asked authorities concerned to let it know about a specific initiative regarding giving Covid-19 vaccines to expecting mothers on priority basis, reports BSS.

A High Court division virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order after holding hearing on a writ filed by four Supreme Court lawyers Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab, Barrister Mohammad Kawser, Barrister Mozammel Haque and Advocate Rashida Chowdhury.

Health Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretary, DG of DGHS and Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) Director were made respondents at the writ.

The court kept the matter stand over and asked the Attorney General to contact the Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and let the court know about the initiatives, within 72 hours.

Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab moved the plea before the court while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Baghmar argued for the state.
