Passenger vessels to run till tomorrow noon: BIWTA
Commodore Golam Sadeq, chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), on Sunday said that the passenger vessels are allowed to continue to operate on a limited scale, subject to the pressure of passengers, till 12 noon on Monday.
He also said that the passenger vessels would run till 6 am tomorrow, but if the pressure of the passengers is high, it may continue till noon tomorrow, said a release.
He urged the passengers to abide by the strict hygiene rules while traveling.
After the government opened the garment industry on August 1, the passenger vessels started moving on a limited scale from Saturday due to the increasing pressure of the people heading to the capital, the release said.
Subject to the pressure of riders and other matters concerned, BIWTA today extended the operation time for the sake of the people travelling from across the country to the capital.
