Bus, launch to operate till Sunday noon
The government on Saturday evening allowed buses and launches to operate till Sunday noon to facilitate the return of the factory workers to their workplaces.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has let passenger launches to resume operation from this evening, its public relations officer Mizanur Rahman told Jago News.
Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Secretary General Khandaker Enayet Ullah confirmed to Jago News that bus services will also restart in all routes of the country.
Besides, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruk Hasan also confirmed the matter of bus movement.
He told Jago News, "The Cabinet Division has informed me that the ongoing restrictions on the movement of public transports have been relaxed till 12 noon tomorrow."
A source concerned said the train services will not resume for a limited period.
The government on Friday let the export-oriented factories reopen on Sunday amid the strict coronavirus lockdown.
Earlier, it imposed a strict lockdown from July 23 to August 5 to curb the coronavirus transmission.
All public-private offices, market-shopping malls, public transports, and industries except the ones producing and processing food products, transporting and maintaining rawhide, and producing drugs to remain shut during the restrictions.
