Eight people, including six Rohingyas, were killed in separate incidents of floods and landslides in Ukhiya, Maheshkhali, and Teknaf upazilas of Cox's Bazar district on Tuesday.

The incidents took place between early today and this morning, said the deputy commissioner, Md Mamunur Rashid.

In Ukhiya, five people were killed and two others injured in landslides at Balukhali Rohingya Camp-10 around 10am.

The deceased were Dil Bahar, 42, wife of Shah Alam, their son Shafiul Alam, 9, Dil Bahar, 25, wife of Md Yusuf, their son Abdur Rahman, 3, and daughter Ayesha Siddiqua, 1.

A child named Bahar died in flood at Camp-8 but more details about his identity could not be known yet.

Additional refugee relief and repatriation commissioner Shamsuzzoha Nayan confirmed the incidents. 

In Maheshkhali, a teenage girl died while sleeping in a landslide in North Sipahipara area in the early hours.

Deceased Morsheda Akter, 14, was the daughter of local Ansar Hossain, confirmed Maheshkhali Union Parishad chairman Ziad Bin Ali.

In Teknaf, a man died in a landslide in Monirghona village.

Deceased Rakim Ali, 48, was a resident of the village, said Whykong Union Parishad chairman prof Nur Ahmed Anwari.
