Language movement veteran Somela Rahman dies
Language movement veteran Somela Rahman passed away in a hospital in Nilphamari district on Thursday morning. She was 87.
She breathed her last around 11am while undergoing treatment at Nilphamari General Hospital, the facility residential medical officer Dr Omal Roy confirmed.
She, wife of language hero and singer late Waliur Rahman, left behind four daughters, three sons, relatives, and numerous well-wishers to mourn.
Family sources said Somela received her first dose of coronavirus vaccine on February 17, and the second one on April 17 but on July 7 she tested positive for the virus. Besides, she had been suffered from various old age complications.
Solema Rahman was among 27 people of Nilphamari who actively took part in the country's language movement.
