Police have arrested Jago News’ Thakurgaon District correspondent Tanveer Hasan Tanu over a news of irregularities in serving food at Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital.  

Tanu, also the Office Secretary of Thakurgaon Press Club, was arrested around 8pm on Saturday. 

Earlier, Dr Nadirul Aziz, Caretaker of the hospital, filed a case with Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station against three journalists including Tanu under the Digital Security Act (DSA). 

The other journalists are Abdul Latif Litu, District Correspondent of Bangladesh Pratidin and Rahim Shuvo, District Correspondent of News Bangla 24. 

Some journalists said, Tanu was arrested when he went to the police station to know about the case filed against him. 

Hearing the news of arrest, some journalists staged demonstration at the press club premises and they demanded immediate release of thee journalists.

In this connection, Tanveerul Islam, Officer-in-charge of the police station, said they arrested Tanu from the police station premises.
