Jamaat-Shibir behind Satkhira priest murder attempt: Cop

Deputy Inspector General of Khulna Police Moniruzzaman said that activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir are responsible for the machete attack on Hindu priest Bhabasindhu Bar at Brahmarajpur in Satkhira early Saturday.

He said this to journalists while he went at Satkhira General Hospital where Bhabasindhu Bar was admitted.

Earlier, early in the morning a group of masked miscreants carried out the attack on Bhabasindhu Bar by breaking open the door of his room.

The fresh attack bore the hallmark of recent killings and attacks on bloggers, activists, intellectuals, spiritual leaders and religious minorities.

The attack came after a Hindu monastery worker was hacked to death near the monastery in Jhenaidah on Friday morning, and a Buddhist community leader was killed in a similar attack at a bordering village of Naikhyangchari in Bandarban hill district on Thursday night.
