Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday said Dhaka would get 2.5 million doses of the US’s Moderna vaccine within three days while 2 million doses of Chinese vaccine to be reached in Dhaka shortly.
“Shortage of COVID vaccine would be over soon," he told reporters after inaugurating Foreign Service Debating Club at Foreign Service Academy.
The foreign minister said the 2.5 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, gifted by the United States (US) to Bangladesh under COVAX, will arrived here on Friday and Saturday in two shipments.
Besides, Dr Momen said the first consignment of 2 million doses of vaccine as part of Bangladesh government's commercial purchase from China's Sinopharm will be arrived here soon.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Mission at Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Hualong Yan in his facebook page said that the 2 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine are ready in Beijing and those will arrive in Dhaka soon.
"China stands by our Bangladeshi friends in fighting the new wave of the pandemic," he said in his post.
