Pori Moni case: Nasir, Omi get bail

A court in Dhaka on Tuesday granted bail to real state businessman Nasir U Mahmood, and Tuhin Siddiqui Omi in a case of an alleged rape-murder attempt filed by Dhallywood actress Pori Moni.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahzadi Tahmida gave the order after a hearing where police prayed to keep the accused held in court until the case probe ends while the defense sought bail.

Earlier on June 23, Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Razib Hasan placed the accused on a five-day remand in the case after police had produced them before the court, seeking a 10-day remand in custody.

The actress on June 14 filed the case with Savar Police Station against Nasir, her friend Omi, and four unnamed people accusing them of trying to rape and kill her at Dhaka Boat Club on the night of June 8.

Following the case filing, police arrested five accused, including Nasir, and Omi, on June 15.
