College girl's body exhumed after 15 days of burial

The body of a college girl was exhumed in Rangpur city on Wednesday afternoon, 15 days after she had been buried.

In presence of the district's executive magistrate Maliha Khanam, the body was exhumed from Munshipara graveyard and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Police and family members said Ishrat Zahan Mim, 19, the second-year student of higher secondary at Rangpur City College, went missing on June 7 following her neighbour and friend Ivy Akter had called her out of the home.

On the following day, she was found dead in a pond near their home at Kukrul South Para under 4 no. ward, and buried her without an autopsy, they said.

Later, Mim's mother Nargis Begum filed a case in Rangpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Court in this connection.

The court took the matter into account and ordered to conduct an autopsy exhuming the body.

Police, however, arrested Ivy, her brother Munna and his friend Al Amin Tiger for their involvement in the incident.

Investigation officer and Porshuram Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Altaf Hossain said the family members claimed that Mim was killed in a pre-planned way calling her out of the home.
