Kadamtali triple murder: Mehzabin remanded

A court in Dhaka on Sunday placed Mehzabin Islam Moon on a four-day remand in a case filed over the murder of her parents and sister at Kadamtali in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order after police produced her before the court, seeking seven-day remand in custody. 

Earlier, Mehzabin's uncle Shakhwat Hossain lodged the case against her and her husband Shafiqul Islam, Kadamtali Police Station officer in-charge Jamal Uddin Meer confirmed the matter to Jago News this afternoon. 

She was, however, detained yesterday in connection with the killing and being questioned at the police station, he said.

Her husband who sustained injuries during the incident is being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) under police guard. He would be shown arrested in the case after treatment, the OC added. 

Earlier on Saturday morning, police recovered the bodies of a couple and their daughter from their house at Kadamtali in the capital.

Police yesterday said Mehzabin conducted the killing of her father Masud Rana, 50, mother Moushumi Akter, 45, and younger sister Zannatul, 20, in a pre-planned way.

The sources said Mehzabin came to her father's home and complained to her mother that her husband Shafiqul and sister Zannatul developed an extra-marital affair.

An altercation occurred over the matter that might lead her to conduct the murder, the sources added.
