Schoolgirl rescued within 12 hours of abduction

Police rescued a schoolgirl from Lalmai upazila of Cumilla district on Wednesday, 12 hours after she had been abducted.

Four people were, however, detained for their alleged involvement with the incident, and later sent to Cumilla Jail following a court order.

The detainees are Helal Uddin, a resident of Mitolla village, Md Naim and his wife Zannat Begum of Goiarbhanga village, and Shah Alam of Uttodda village.

Lalmai Police Station officer in-charge Mohammad Ayub said a female student of Class X at Goiarbhanga High School went missing on Tuesday when she going to submit her assignment.

The victim's father on the day lodged a case with the police station accusing local Awami League leader Rafiqul Islam, his son Helal Uddin, and a few unidentified men, he said.
