Covid-19: Fresh deaths 60, cases around 4000

Some 60 more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 13,282.

During the period, 3,956 more people were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total infection to 8,37,247, the health directorate said in a press release on Wednesday.

Of the total patients, 7,73,752 recovered, with 2,679 made recovery in the last 24 hours.

The daily count came from a test of 23,807 samples in the past day.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8 last year. Since then the country has been struggling to limit the spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year and then spread to newer countries and territories.

To date, the epidemic infected 177,470,620 people and killed 3,839,931 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 161,919,653 across the world.
