Covid-19 cases exceed 2500 in a day
After around one and a half month, the government recorded more than 2500 cases of coronavirus in a single day.
In the last 24 hours, it reported 2,537 fresh cases, taking the country's total infection to 8,17,819.
During the period, it lodged 36 more casualties, taking the tally to 12,949, the health directorate said in a press release on Wednesday.
Earlier on April 28, the country witnessed over 2500 cases in a day.
Of the total patients, 7,57,569 recovered, with 2,267 made recovery in the last 24 hours.
The daily count came from a test of 10,584 samples in the past day.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8 last year. Since then the country has been struggling to limit the spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year and then spread to newer countries and territories.
To date, the epidemic infected 174,802,246 people and killed 3,764,250 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 158,224,355 across the world.
