Hawkers-police clash in Mirpur

Hawkers clash with police during an eviction drive on footpath in the capital’s Mirpur area.

The movement of vehicles from Mirpur no-1 Goal Chattar Intersection to Shah Ali Mazar was suspended due to clashes on Wednesday noon.

During the clash, shops near by were shut down. Eid shoppers busy in shopping take shelter.

A number of police members were injured as they were hit by brick chips thrown by hawkers, said Officer-in-Charge of Shah Ali thana Anwar Hossain.

The situation becomes normal after the law enforcers moved the hawkers through baton charge.
