Pallabi youth murder: Accused Manik killed in gunfight
An accused of Pallabi youth murder case has been killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Deceased Md Manik was no. five accused of the case, RAB-4 commanding officer Md Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter to Jago News on Friday morning.
On information that a terror group took a position in the Eastern Housing area at Pallabi in the capital on Thursday night, a team of the elite force conducted a drive there but the terrorists opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to fire back, he said.
Later, a man critically injured was found on the spot, and he was taken to a hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, Mozammel added.
Local people said the deceased's name Manik, and he was one of the suspects of killing a young man named Shahin Uddin in Pallabi area, the RAB official also said, adding that they recovered a foreign arm and bullet from the scene.
Earlier on Sunday, the miscreants hacked Shahin Uddin, 33, mercilessly in front of his six-year-old son inside a garage at Bloc- D in Pallabi over a land dispute, leaving him dead on the spot.
On the following day, Shahin's mother Alkima Begum lodged a case with Pallabi Police Station in this connection.
The other accused except Manik are Lakshmipur-1 former MP and Islami Democratic Party chairman M A Awal, Chhatra League former leader Suman, Md Abu Taher, Murad, Monir, Shafique, Titu, Kamrul, Kibria, Dipu, Abdur Razzak, Moron Ali, Liton, Abul, Baitta Babu, Boro Shafique, Kalu alias Kala Babu, Nata Sumon, and Yaba Babu.
Among them, the prime accused and former MP Awal, and mastermind Md Suman, 33, and Roki Talukder, 25, have been arrested.
Aklima alleged that her son was killed by the local terrorists over the land dispute with former lawmaker Awal, also managing director of Haveli Property Development Ltd in Alinagar residential area under Pallabi Section-12.
Shahin was murdered as he obstructed grabbing a land of 10 acres worth around Tk 5 crore, she alleged in the case statement.
