Shawkat Mahmud put on remand
A Dhaka court has ordered BNP chief’s advisor and journalist union leader Shawkat Mahmud on a three-day remand in a murder case filed with Ramna police station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) of police produced Shawkat before him seeking 10-day remand prayer.
Ealier, DB arrested him from in front of Samurai Convention Centre in the city’s Panthapath area on Tuesday morning.
Shawkat Mahmud was arrested in three cases for arson attacks on vehicles, vandalising vehicles and crude bomb blasts in the city’s Jatrabari area.
