Lockdown extended to May 5
The government extended the ongoing lockdown to May 5 in an effort to limit the coronavirus spread.
The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.
As per the notification, shopping malls and markets will stay open from 10am to 8pm following the health guidelines.
All public and private offices and public transport will remain shut until further notice but the industries are allowed to operate.
However, the emergency service-providing institutions will remain out of the purview of the restrictions.
Earlier, the government imposed a strict lockdown for eight days from April in a bid to prevent the virus outbreak.
Later, the same was prolonged to April 28 as the coronavirus situation did not improve.
