571 fined in Sirajganj for violating health rules

The mobile courts in Sirajganj district fined 571 people around Tk 1.71 lakh in last 11 days for violating the health rules issued to limit the coronavirus spread.

Executive Magistrate Faisal Ahmed came up with the disclosure around 11am on Friday.

Between Thursday morning to night, six mobile courts conducted drives in the district town and different upazilas, he said.

During the operations, 24 cases were filed for not wearing mask and maintaining social distance; and keeping business open defying lockdown, the official added.

Bangladesh, however, on Wednesday went into an eight-day strict lockdown (restrictions) from April 14 to 21 imposed in a bid to curb the alarming rise of the highly contagious virus.

During this lockdown, the people's movement is strictly restricted; the public and private offices, and public transports services remain close but the factories and banks are in operation following the health guidelines.
